On July 31 Dr. Call will be a guest presenter at the Region VI Human Services & Disaster Summit which will be held in Dallas, Texas. His topic will be how to develop a Human Services Disaster Response Team.

This year, 2008, the Oklahoma Department of Health and the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services are collaborating in the development of Human Services Disaster Response Teams (HSDRT) across the state.  This is a first ever project for Oklahoma.  In April and May, five teams will be organized and developed.  A three day conference will be held, beginning July 16, in the Oklahoma City area to provide initial training in Psychological Fist Aid (PFA), Practical Frontline Assistance & Support for Healing II (Pflash II), and Post-Disaster Community Needs Assessment.  The purpose of the HSDRT’s is twofold: to provide disaster mental health services during the 72 hours immediately following a disaster’s impact and to help assess a community’s intermediate and long term mental health needs after a disaster.  CMC, Inc. has been selected to help develop the organizational manual for these teams, to help organize the teams, and to provide the PFA and Pflash II instructional training.  For further information feel free to contact us at CMC, Inc.
